Hey, everyone, we have resolved the issue with the hackers. Luckily they didn't do much damage, however, they hacked into my Minecraft account and started to grief spawn. (Which we have a backup of)  We promptly banned them from the server so they will not come back again. I am looking into what we can do to stop this from happening again. I have the hackers' IP addresses and will be sending them to the necessary authorities.

Hey, everyone, it's Win here. Perm has decided to give me ownership of the server. Don't worry, everything will stay more or less the same as it has always been. However some things on the server will not be online whilst the moving process is under weigh. This is because I'm moving everything off the VPS that Perms uses to host some of the servers onto my own servers I run at home. This means that we will effectively be able to run indefinitely without the need for donations. However if people do donate these donations will be used to buy upgraded hardware allowing us to be able to have more features for players to enjoy. Perm will be keeping his perms [( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)], though, so he can still help around the server if he wants to. There will be some places for staff as well, I will update on this soon.

If you would like more information don't hesitate to email me at [email protected]

Hello all,

thank goodness the network is back up, amirite?

For the past few days I've been working so hard to get them back up and thankfully it's paid off. However, some things won't be the same. Our most recent backup was from April 30th, was restored and from that structure we reset worlds and plots. Kingdoms voting managed to make it back, but creative hasn't. When possible, we will add tokens and creative voting again. I don't want to go on about what's gone and what's survived, I want to talk about the question that everyone has: what actually happened? This post will expain.

We host all of our database apart from the two most important, which are secured onto our web server. It's hosted on an OS known as Debian, and on the Raspberry Pi (if you don't know what those are, just pretend it's a database server). I made a simple mistake when I first set it up, and I didn't change the default password. This meant that anyone who knew that could login to it easily and take over, and that is what happened. I know the hacker, but they will not be named as it draws them attention and I don't want that. They took advantage of the default password instead of saying something and because I used my personal password for the databases, they logged into other accounts, such as LavaGaming's Twitter and my own, my website account, the server panels and my CloudFlare (a website securer) account. Inappropriate messages were sent from the Twitter, and the website was destroyed along with all of the server files which is why I had to use the latest server backup (April 30th). Thankfully, we have daily automatic website backups for the website so we simply used the most recent one.

Since the website was hacked, two-factor authentication was added and anyone is able to use it. If you don't know what TFA is, let me explain. It's a system when if you login, it will ask you for a code. That code will either can be sent to your e-mail, or generated on a mobile authentication application. Here's how:

UserCPFirst, click on your name in the top corner, and click on UserCP (User Control Panel).

On the side, you will see Overview, Private Messages, Alerts, and Profile Settings. Click on Profile Settings.

TFA Example

Taa daa, you've found it! From there, you should be able to set it up easily. If you are having trouble, do not hesitate to contact me or another member of staff.

Please remember though, in case this happens again, and in case someone attempts to steal your personal information, change your password and (I recommend) turn(ing) on Two-factor Authentication.

Thank you everyone for reading, and we're going to get better again! #MakeLavaGamingGreatAgain

(Note to the hacker: I got an e-mail with your information, including your IP address whilst you hijacked one of my accounts, and since you live in the same country as me, I could go to the police about it. Thankfully, I won't, since it was my mistake and I accept, but I can go if you do any more damage and report anything else along with what you've caused so far. Beware.)

Hello,

If you didn't notice in the last 18 hours, someone had hacked into my account as an admin and messed up a lot of things, for example, email settings and the theme. They also browsed the user area meaning they could've accessed your account info.

I have never been more serious in my life, but this is regarding all players.

If you registered before the 17th May, change your password immediately.

We care about all players on the network, so if you want to keep your personal information safe please do that as soon as you can. I will be releasing a YouTube video soon about what happened.

I will make a post in a few days explaining what's happened.

Hello all,
Voting is now ready! On creative there are tokens which you can earn by voting (/vote) and watching advertisements (/ad). Tokens can be used for special perks on /redeem which you can use for a certain amount of time. Currently there is WorldEdit for a week, /ptime for 24 hours and to donate points to other players. However, we still need more ideas, so feel free to post it on the forum!

On kingdoms, you can vote (/vote) and watch advertisements (/ad) for resource points for your kingdom, along with other in-game items! It helps other people as well as yourself.

Hope you all have fun! :D
